Seth Rogen revealed that the Home Alone gangster movie is not real on social media and he blew people’s minds. His post quickly caught the attention of Avengers: Endgame star Chris Evans, who was shocked to learn that Angels with Filthy Souls in not a real movie. Evans wasn’t alone as thousands of others learned the news after years of just assuming that the movie that Kevin McCallister uses to mess with the Wet Bandits and the Little Nero’s Pizza delivery guy was a real movie.

It sounds like Seth Rogen spent some of Christmas day watching Home Alone after he posted a tweet about Angels with Filthy Souls. The fake gangster movie includes one of the biggest quotes from the franchise, which is now printed on all kinds of merchandise: “Keep the change, ya filthy animal.” Rogen felt compelled to share his knowledge with the rest of the world. He had this to say.

“My entire childhood, I thought the old timey movie that Kevin watches in Home Alone (Angels with Filthy Souls) was actually an old movie.”

Captain America star Chris Evans saw Seth Rogen’s post and simply posted back, in all capital letters, “it’s not???” Rogen’s initial tweet went viral, but it all got a little crazy after Evans revealed that he didn’t know about the Home Alone and Angels with Filthy Souls information. Rogen apologized with the infamous quote. The information prompted people to either share the story of how and when they learned about the fake gangster movie or mostly people sharing that they just found out from Rogen’s tweet.

Angels with Filthy Souls is modeled after the 1938 crime movie Angels With Dirty Faces, which starred James Cagney, and was filmed before Home Alone started principal photography. Filmmakers used a lot of the same techniques that were used in the 1940s to make what looked like an authentic gangster movie, spending time to find the period-correct pieces in the office, including the lamp and gun that are used. In addition, the movie within the movie was filmed in the perspective of a little kid, like Kevin McCallister, looking up at the two adult actors on the screen, adding to the effect of why the movie would have affected the young child so much on his first viewing.

Michael Guido was the actor who ended up playing the infamous Snakes in Angels with Filthy Souls, though he originally went for the part of Johnny. Guido recently admitted that he had no idea what was really going on with the project and had no idea that it was for a movie called Home Alone. The actor also revealed that he still gets recognized on the streets all of these years later and gets the lines yelled at him all of the time. It’s amazing that nearly 30 years after its release, people are still learning about Home Alone.
